I was 49 years old before I knew how to drink correctly.
Before that, I was living in a world of syrupy concentrated blendered boat drinks, and thought I was happy.
Then I read Martin Cate’s “Smuggler’s Cove”, and discovered I had no idea what I was doing.
Since then, I have pursued the mysteries of the tiki cocktail, and am always discovering a new, hidden tropical oasis in every garish mug or flowered, icy glass. I briefly considered opening a tiki bar, and was investigating marketing and financing options, when a great friend and colleague talked me out of it, and suggested I start blogging instead. That was the birth of The Tiki Texan.
I want to share my love of craft cocktails and all things tiki with you.
I am now 51 years old, and live in the Katy/Houston Texas area. I continue to hone my mixology craft, and practice at every opportunity.
